Flower Hill Primary School Principal Marlon Small just loves to recognize the students in his building when they do something that warrants a pat on the back. So the veteran educator was smiling as he went about honoring September’s Star Students.
Flower Hill’s faculty and paraprofessional staff members take delight in encouraging students who do their best every day and enjoy telling the youngsters when they have done something especially commendable. One student from each class is singled out monthly in a special way.
Every youngster in the school wants to earn a Star Student Award at some point and who can blame them? Honorees are made to feel like princes and princesses for a day.
Few things can possibly compare to watching a youngster walk on air after being cited for a job well done. The monthly Star Student Award ceremony is an opportunity to motivate every student in the school to work hard. The names of the honorees are read over the school’s public address system and they are given attractive certificates. The group gathers together in the cafeteria for a commemorative photo, which is displayed on a bulletin board in the lobby.
September’s honorees included Lauren Reed, Emilia Garcia, Kevin Harris, Maya Schneider, Andrea Rivera Rivera, Yeidy Eras Medina, Perla Nativi Ulloa, Cassidy Harris, Nicolina Santoli, Kayvon Pittman, Grace Bartasi, Jennifer Reyes-Cardona, Victor Aviles, Keegan Warren, Cassandra Geuvara Jandres, Nathaniel Sierra, Braid Martin, Isabella Palacios, Areston Huerta-Anticona, Gianna Uvena, Melanie Carrillo and Britney Romero-Jaramillo.
“We extend our congratulations to these exceptional students and their parents,” Mr. Small said. “It is always fun to recognize youngsters who are doing so well in school.”
