The Huntington High School varsity tennis team consists of Christie Baade, Abigail Bellistri, Mia Breitbarth, Maire Brown, Jessica Cordes, Leanne Daly, Christiana DeLuca, Gabriella DeLuca, Cameron Fehrs, Isyss Jones, Theresa Moreno, Miranda Nykolyn, Emma Pipolo and Kiera Striano. Kayla Ryan is the team’s manager.

The Blue Devils dropped their first meet at home to Longwood, 4-3 before rebounding to capture a 5-2 victory at Port Jefferson behind wins from Brown in No.1 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Bellistri and Breitbarth.

Jamie Fishlow is Huntington’s varsity coach.

H-ton Overwhelms Visiting Northport

The Huntington varsity boys’ soccer team overwhelmed visiting Northport on Tuesday afternoon, 6-0.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead and then added four second half goals to secure their second victory of the fall season without a loss.

Junior Freddy Amador tallied two goals and two assists. Senior Kevin Gulizio added two goals and an assist. Freshman Denilson Osorto had a goal and an assist. Sophomore Edwin Garcia also scored and senior Matt Gelb contributed an assist.

Junior goalkeeper Nat Amato stopped three Tiger shots to pick-up his second shutout of the season. Sophomore Tyler Abedin (two saves) also saw time in the net for Huntington.

Boys’ JV Soccer Tops Patchogue-Medford, 6-0

The Huntington High School junior varsity boys’ soccer team glided past Patchogue-Medford, 6-0. While the Blue Devil offense hummed, the team’s defense was also exceptional.

Christian Belissimo tallied two goals. Jonathan Munoz, Johnny Tucker, Julien Rentsch and Emerson Forbes scored one goal each. Tucker’s goal came on a penalty shot. Huntington goalies Cole Pillion and Tyler Abedin recorded six saves each.

Jose Alfaro is Huntington’s junior varsity coach.

Blue Devil Varsity Soccer Captains

The Huntington varsity boys’ soccer team is captained by junior Nat Amato and seniors Mark Rafuse, Matthew Gelb and Kevin Gulizio. Senior Steve Yeh serves as the team manager.

The roster also includes Andres Uribe, Freddy Amador, Robin Alfaro, Josh Yanuck, Steven Delgado, Luis Ortiz, Edwin Garcia, Juan Salamanca, Alex Rivera, Edwin Rodriquez, Eren Aydin, Jack Langton, Aidan Forbes, Carmine DeIeso, Denilson Osorto, Ronald Nativi and Mike Abbondandelo.
The Blue Devils are coached by John Pagano and Jason Suarez.

Huntington Football at Hills West

The Huntington varsity football team will travel to Half Hollow Hills West on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. The school is located on Wolf Hill Road.

The Colts are a Suffolk Division II power. The Blue Devils dropped their first game of the year last Friday night to Newfield, 34-14.

Huntington will play its home opener next Saturday (September 17) when it takes on Smithtown West at 1:30 p.m.

Blue Devils Notch Tennis Shutout

The Huntington varsity girls’ tennis team notched an impressive 7-0 shutout of visiting Northport in a Suffolk League II meet on Wednesday afternoon.

No. 1 singles Maire Brown won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 to pace the Blue Devils.

The Huntington High School varsity girls’ volleyball team nipped visiting North Babylon in thrilling fashion, 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The match played out before a spirited crowd in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

The Blue Devils were led by Rebecca Caballero, Cat Jamison Lindsay Saginaw, Maddie Reed, Alexandra Heuwetter, Julia Rogan and Rachel Moss.

Huntington won the first two games, 25-13 and 25-17 before dropping games three and four, 26-24 and 25-23. The Blue Devils then rallied to capture the fifth and deciding game, 25-19.

Moss notched five aces on serves while Jamison had 14 kills. Caballero added seven kills while Heuwetter tallied three.
