Huntington Parents Invited to Meet the Teacher Nights

Back to School Nights are set for eight all Huntington UFSD buildings.

Parents of Huntington School District students are invited to attend “Meet the Teacher Night” in each of the district’s eight buildings beginning Thursday, September 15. The evening programs will provide parents with an opportunity to meet teachers and learn more about school policies, course curriculum, educational resources and teacher philosophies.

“Meet the Teacher Night” has traditionally been an important evening for parents. Principals and teachers plan informative and interesting presentations. Parents will be given a clear understanding of how teachers go about educating their students as well as their expectations and general classroom policies and practices.

“’Meet the Teacher’ nights provide excellent opportunities for parents to learn more about what their children will be experiencing in their respective schools and classes,” Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “The events will also reinforce the importance of the home-school connection and open lines of communication throughout the year among teachers, students and parents. I am confident that parents will enjoy what they see and hear.”

Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School will host parents of students in grades 3-6 on Thursday, September 15 at 7 p.m. (A meeting concerning the annual trip to the Greenkill Outdoor Education Center will be held for sixth grade Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School parents beginning at 6 p.m.)

At Woodhull Intermediate School, parents of fifth graders can meet with teachers on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m. Parents sixth graders will meet faculty members on Wednesday, September 21at 7 p.m. (A meeting concerning the annual trip to the Greenkill Outdoor Education Center will be held for sixth grade Woodhull Intermediate School parents beginning at 6 p.m.)

Parents of Huntington High School students will meet teachers on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. J. Taylor Finley Middle School will welcome parents of seventh and eighth graders on Thursday, September 29 at 7 p.m.

At Jefferson, Southdown, Flower Hill and Washington Primary Schools, “Meet the Teacher Night” for students enrolled in grades 3-4 will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 7 p.m. Parents of youngsters in grades K-2 will meet with teachers the following evening, Thursday, October 6 at 7 p.m.
