Flower Hill Primary School recognized its January stars during a recent ceremony that saw the youngster’s names announced over the public address system, certificates presented to each student and a commemorative photo snapped with Principal Marlon Small.

January’s honorees include John Gentile, Thania Guardado, Josiah Raymond, Elena Prior, Symphany Cunningham, Jayleen Rosales, Charles Rosselli, Luis Perez Carias, Andrew Guandique, Edwardo Reyes-Flores, Julia Goodwin, Michaella Excellent Mesidor, Jordan Oromaner, Gannon Johnson, Emily Barba, Bridget Callery, David Salgado Andrade, Mia Velasquez Alvarado, Olivia Stone, Patrick Flick, Amaya Santiago, Emily Kustera and Keegan Malone.

Each month Flower Hill recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional efforts in their classroom and around the building, including the cafeteria and even the playground. Students are reminded daily to give their school work their best effort and to cooperate with their teachers and classmates, showing respect every step of the way.

“We are very fortunate to have energetic and enthusiastic students who enjoy working with our outstanding teachers,” Mr. Small said. “It was a pleasure to honor January’s Star Students. We look forward to recognizing February’s stars in a few weeks.”

Kindness Week Celebrated

Kindness Week enhanced Flower Hill’s winter of fun. Students embraced the concept behind the initiative and had a blast dressing up based upon a daily theme.

The week kicked off with Dreaming of Kindness Day on Monday with students dressed in cozy pajamas. Tuesday’s theme was Tied Together by Kindness with the youngsters coming to school with all sorts of colorful ties around their necks.

Team Kindness Day was celebrated on Wednesday with children wearing their favorite jerseys. Thursday’s theme was Peace, Love and Kindness Day with many referring to it as Hippie Day. That might have gone over the head of some of the youngsters, but they learned quickly from faculty and staff, who joined in on the fun.

The special week wrapped up on Friday with Crazy for Kindness Day. Flower Hill students came decked out in “crazy clothes” and sported “crazy hair.”

“All of us had a really fund time,” Mr. Small said.
