Huntington High School’s eighth annual film festival will spotlight some of the community’s top young filmmakers. The Cinema Arts Centre will host the special evening on Tuesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. Tickets are not required. Admission is free. The event is open to the general public and entire families are welcome to attend.
This year’s festival will include a wide variety of short films. Art teacher Heather Swan, who leads Huntington’s video arts program said the festival will include “sensational” works.
“It’s really exciting for me to be in the film festival for the second year in a row,” senior Jack Glicker said. “There’s no better feeling than having a crowd full of strangers laugh at one of your films in a theater.”
After spending its first two years in the Huntington High School auditorium, the film festival moved to the Cinema Arts Centre in 2012. This year’s festival is being given a bigger theater in anticipation of a large crowd turning out for the event.
“The film festival is a great opportunity that we have at Huntington High School,” junior Jackie Caravetto said. “I love seeing our videos up on the big screen.”
Huntington’s filmmakers have won a numerous honors in festivals and contests around the metropolitan area in recent years. Visit the school district’s YouTube channel at to view some of this year’s top movies.
