Alex LaBella will have an opportunity to take a step up from the friendly confines of Blue Devil Stadium when the Huntington High School senior takes the field in January to play for USA Football’s under-18 select team against UANL-Mexico at AT&T Stadium where the Dallas Cowboys play their home games.
LaBella made the final roster of the US national team after officials reviewed 10,000 player evaluations. The Huntington teenager will play in International Bowl IX and “join a prestigious group of athletes who have represented the United States on the field as part of USA Football’s national team program,” said Matt Ferrera, USA Football’s manager of national teams.

The Blue Devil gridiron star will play for the United States on Friday, January 12. In the meantime, LaBella is an integral member of the Huntington football team. He’s a wide receiver, defensive back, punter and kick returner for Big Blue.
“It’s truly an honor to be chosen to represent our country and the Blue Devils in international competition,” LaBella said. “I can’t wait to wear the red, white and blue in AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.”
Once Huntington’s football season wraps up, LaBella plans to run on the Blue Devils’ indoor track and field team and then play lacrosse in the spring. He also intends to get involved in the Young Leaders youth development program.
LaBella is eyeing a career in law enforcement on some level. He plans to study criminal justice in college.
