Huntington High School will host a Parent Academy next Tuesday.

April 6, 2018

Calling all Huntington High School parents. A Parent Academy will be held on Tuesday, April 17 from 6-8:15 p.m. It’s an opportunity for parents to participate in a variety of workshops of their choice addressing every adolescent’s academic, social and emotional well-being.

There will be presentations in English and Spanish. Dinner will be served to participants during the program. The evening will feature three 30-minute informational sessions. Pre-registration is not required. Just come to the high school and join in on the fun.

Parents can choose from a menu of possibilities, including SAT preparation, the benefits of a well-rounded education and the library’s virtual reference collection as well as stress reduction through mindful strategies, how to get kids organized and ready for life after high school and an eye-opening presentation on vaping.

“I am very excited about the upcoming Parent Academy,” Principal Brenden Cusack said. “Our teachers, support staff and outside speakers are so knowledgeable about the topics they are presenting and I am sure there will be something for everyone to learn.”

Huntington High School’s Shared Decision Making Committee is coordinating the evening. The group has been planning presentations for several weeks and believes the topics will appeal to participants.

A variety of presentations will be provided by high school teachers and support staff members while others will be given by outside speakers. “There is a wealth of knowledge to be had at the academy and many parents have given excellent reviews in years past,” Mr. Cusack said.

Organizers are hoping a large crowd turns out for the evening. Contact Mr. Cusack at [email protected] for more information.
