HHS College Office Opens Doors to Juniors

Huntington High School's College Office is loaded with valuable resources.

January 24, 2018

It’s not too early for members of Huntington High School’s Class of 2019 to be thinking about college. So as the juniors start investigating what might be a good match for each of them, the building’s college office is throwing open its doors to the teenagers and making its resources available.

The office contains “catalogs, financial aid and scholarship information, SAT/ACT preparation and registration booklets, as well as information about summer programs,” wrote school counselor Bernadette Walsh in a letter to the juniors and their parents. “Computers are also available for career, college and scholarship searches, virtual tours and communicating with admissions offices. Everyone should take advantage of our wonderful resources.”

Mrs. Walsh is also reminding parents of the availability of Naviance’s Family Connection and asking them to explore the various components of the web-based program. “This powerful online tool can help with the post-secondary planning process, including resume writing and career exploration,” she said. “In addition, students will use this program to request high school transcripts and teacher recommendations to complete their college applications next year.”

Those who have not yet registered for a free Naviance Family Connection account or who have misplaced their access code can contact either their child’s counselor or Mrs. Walsh’s office at (631) 673-2131.

Important upcoming dates for junior class members and their parents include:
