Huntington Association of Retired Teachers and Employees awarded her a $1,000 scholarship.

The scholarship presentation was made by HARTE President Martha Ironman during the high school’s senior academic awards night in the auditorium.

“Sarah is involved in many worthwhile activities,” Huntington college counselor Bernadette Walsh said. She does not join activities just to create a résumé, but rather out of true interest and the willingness to be deeply involved. An athlete, a philanthropist and a musician (clarinet in the senior band and Blue Devil marching band) are just a few of the many hats Sarah wears. The commitment and dedication she’s shown to these organizations are certainly admirable while the level of precision and discipline expected of her has trickled into other areas of her life, raised the bar and resulted in solid performance all around.”

The HARTE scholarship is funded by dues from the organization’s more than 180 members.
