Huntington High School senior Ryley Madison is headed to the University at Albany to study business.

“I chose UAlbany for a variety of reasons,” Mr. Madison said. “These reasons include the vast amount of majors and activities offered as well as the Long Island like atmosphere. The distance played a major part in my decision as well; it is just far enough. Albany being the capital of New York, offers many opportunities for internships. UAlbany has a great business school that I look forward to being part of. It was a hard decision to make, but once I stepped on campus I knew it was the place for me.”

Mr. Madison considered Coastal Carolina University, Roger Williams University and Emmanuel College before deciding to enroll at the University at Albany. “At this point I’m interested in pursuing a career in business or economics,” he said.

The teenager has participated in the winter and spring track and been a member of the Key Club, Asian Studies Club and the Spanish Honor Society.

“Although I have had many memorable teachers at Huntington High School, some teachers that have played a significant role in my time at Huntington High School were Mr. [Jordan] Gould (Global History 10, U.S History, African-American Politics), Ms. [Kelly] Krycinski (English 9H, Bible Literature, Humanities) and Ms. [Judy] Pazienza (Physics, Engineering Design),” Mr. Madison said. “These three teachers will be missed greatly. Over my high school career these teachers helped guide me to success by motivating me to work up to my greatest potential.”

Mr. Madison has charted a path through the high school that has met his own interests and needs and allowed him to grow socially and intellectually.

“My most memorable moments at Huntington High School are winning several medals in discus on the spring track team, going on the EF Tours trip to Ireland, homecoming and playing the role of a lawyer in the Civil War Games and World Court Games.” Mr. Madison said.

Mr. Madison’s current academic schedule includes African-American Politics, Humanities, Calculus, Engineering Design and Spanish IV.

“Huntington High school has greatly prepared me for the future,” Mr. Madison said. “I know that I will be successful in life especially coming from a Blue Devil background. I will always remember how well the Huntington community comes together and is always there for you.”
