Lena Annunziata is a hard-charging, goal-oriented young woman who is one of the leading members of Huntington High School’s Class of 2020. She’s already accomplished quite a bit, but one gets the sense that the best is yet to come.

Ms. Annunziata defines the term “involved teenager.” She plays on two Blue Devil varsity athletic teams and is an integral member of several club organizations, including Huntington’s county championship mock trial team.

“My plan this year is to get involved in as much as I can,” Ms. Annunziata said. “I play on both the girls’ varsity soccer and lacrosse teams while remaining active in clubs that mean a lot to me, such as mock trial and AWOD (A World of Difference.)”

The junior has earned a superb academic record and she’s in midst of applying for membership in the National Honor Society as well as the Science, Social Studies and Math Honor Societies.

Named the chief operating officer of her Virtual Enterprise business class, Ms. Annunziata is excited to be tackling a new set of responsibilities.

The teenager’s best friends include Megan Agrillo, Caroline Hartough, Abby Maichin, Maya Santa-Maria, Mia Redick and Holly Wright.

“Lena is the most caring and outgoing person I know,” Ms. Maichin said. “She knows how to put a smile on everyone’s face and I’m so grateful to call her one of my best friends.”

Ms. Annunziata has a wonderful personality. She’s sensitive, loyal and caring. She’s always close by when one of her friends needs her.

“Lena Annunziata is one of the best friends anyone could ask for,” Ms. Wright said. “Everything about her is just wonderful. She knows how to put a smile on anyone’s face at any time of the day. Lena has such a bright future ahead of her and I can’t wait to see all that she does. I’m truly am lucky to call her one of my best friends.”

Ms. Annunziata’s favorite teachers include Lauren Desiderio, David Moriarty and Paige Tyree. “Lena has a great attitude toward school,” Mr. Moriarty said. “She is eager to learn on a daily basis and her positive attitude has an impact on those around her. My classroom is a happier place and a more effective learning environment because Lena is in it.”

The junior’s current academic schedule includes classes in Advanced Placement Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP US History, Psychology, Honors Italian, Virtual Enterprise and Honors Pre-Calculus.

“I’ve had the pleasure of having Lena in my class since she was a freshman and will be lucky enough to teach for a third consecutive year,” Mrs. Desiderio said. “Lena is an amazing young woman who displays integrity in everything she does. She’s kindhearted, responsible and while she can be quiet at times, don’t be deceived as she can always be counted on in class as the voice of reason. Charismatic and conscientious, Lena is destined to achieve whatever she sets her mind to.”

Ms. Annunziata traveled to the Dominican Republic with her close friends last summer. It’s a trip she will always remember. She loves new experiences.

“Although I am not entirely sure of what university I would like to attend,” Ms. Annunziata said. “I plan on majoring and being successful in business, followed by applying to law school.”

The teenager is looking forward to a great junior year. She comes to school enthusiastically each morning and is enjoying her classes, sports and clubs.

“Huntington has provided me with more opportunities, experiences and great memories than I could ever explain,” Ms. Annunziata said. “I am so appreciative of all the faculty, coaches and my peers for guiding and encouraging me to get to where I am today. It’s not over yet!”
