The deadline for Huntington School District residents to request transportation of their children to a non-public school during the 2017/18 school year is April 1. Late requests will not be honored nor will any request seeking a change in transportation after April 1 that results in additional cost to the district, even if there is a change in schools.
The Huntington UFSD is currently busing 4,960 eligible students to the district’s eight public schools as well as transporting school age residents to 32 private and parochial and 25 special needs schools on Long Island as required by law. The district currently contracts to 53 large buses and 87 vans. The district’s transportation budget totaled about $10.7 million during the 2018/19 school year.
